In April 2015, Google began showing favor to responsive (mobile-friendly) websites. Websites that provide a good user experience on mobile devices rank higher than non-mobile-ready sites in search results for mobile users.
Starting July 1st, 2019, mobile-first indexing is enabled by default for all new websites. For older or existing websites, Google will continue to monitor and evaluate pages based on the best practices.

Statistics show that more than 53% of mobile users will leave a website that takes more than 3 seconds to load.
Google started using the mobile page speed in ranking the search results in 2018. This means websites with a good score on Page Speed will have higher ranking on Google, who owns 94% of total organic search traffic worldwide. Lower ranking, less visits.
